ADVOCACY
Geoffrey advocates for street dance communities and fair representation.
He is also a strong advocate for access and inclusion through various roles with Arts Access Victoria, City of Melbourne’s Disability Advisory Committee, and the advisory group for Equity: The Arts and Disability Associated Plan.
STREET DANCE
Geoffrey was a key partner in developing Australia’s first national street dance survey and report titled ‘Street Dance in Focus’. This was a partnership between Cypher Culture, Creative Australia and Dr Jason Ng, and set out to map the community’s features, needs, and barriers. 471 community respondents told us about their practice, and what mattered most to them.
He also writes submissions advocating for the community and on behalf of Cypher Culture for various government policies and plans. Examples include the National Cultural Policy (2026), where he rallied community requests for formal recognition and equity.
Geoffrey believes that government must designate and build public spaces for street dance communities to exist. He is currently completing an advocacy report to build the case for this through his honorary fellowship with University of Melbourne’s Social Equity Institute. He has also made a submission on this topic to City of Melbourne’s Community Infrastructure Plan (2026).
